About:

Client: Africa at the Pictures, Royal African Society

Venues: BFI Southbank, Barbican, Rich Mix and arthouse cinemas around the UK

Date: 2003–2010

For nearly a decade tpr media promoted Africa at the Pictures which brought a rich programme of African film to London and the UK. We worked with some of the foremost African filmmakers, including the father of African film, Ousmane Sembene and Abderrahmane Sissako.

Project:

Our brief was to drive audience to screenings and festivals and raise the profile of African film among UK audiences. Working with programmer Keith Shiri, who we positioned as a thought leader in this field, we arranged interviews with filmmakers, articles on African film and extensive radio coverage on BBC Radio 3, Radio 4 and World Service. Our primary focus was broadsheet and specialist film outlets.
